About the studio

karlmeparte is an independent workspace planning practice based at 15 Avenue de la Gare in Lausanne. We combine architectural rigour with operational understanding to deliver office environments that organisations can grow within.

Founded on the principle that space should serve work, not the reverse

The studio was established in 2014 by planners who had spent years inside corporate real estate teams and architecture firms. That dual perspective informs every project: we understand lease negotiations and board-level reporting as clearly as we understand dimensioned drawings.

Our client base spans financial services, life sciences, public administration, and professional services firms across the Romandie and greater Swiss market.

A multidisciplinary team of planners, not generalist consultants

Our core team includes spatial planners, workplace strategists, acoustic specialists, and project coordinators who work collaboratively from a single studio floor. We do not outsource planning to remote teams or rely on templated solutions.

Senior planners remain involved throughout each engagement, from the initial brief through to handover inspection. Clients have direct access to decision-makers at every stage.

Swiss standards, international experience

All our documentation conforms to Swiss SIA norms and local building regulations. We maintain active relationships with contractors, furniture suppliers, and MEP engineers across Vaud, Geneva, Zurich, and Basel.

International clients relocating staff to Switzerland benefit from our guidance on cantonal permit requirements, fire safety classifications, and culturally appropriate workplace norms.

Our approach: measure first, design second

We resist the temptation to propose layouts before understanding utilisation patterns. Every project includes a structured discovery phase with department leads, facilities managers, and HR stakeholders.

Data from occupancy sensors, booking systems, or manual surveys feeds directly into our planning models, ensuring that recommendations are evidence-based rather than aspirational.

Commitment to sustainable, durable environments

We specify materials and furniture with lifecycle cost in mind, favouring suppliers with verified environmental credentials and repairable product lines. Waste reduction during fit-out is addressed in our tender documentation.

Where clients pursue certification such as Minergie or LEED, we coordinate planning deliverables with the appointed sustainability consultant from the outset.
